This article explains what the QM Review Assistant Tool does, what it doesn't do, and what to expect before you run your first evaluation.
The QM Review Assistant Tool is an AI-powered course evaluation tool built by Noodle in partnership with Quality Matters. It runs directly inside Canvas and evaluates your course content against the QM rubric, giving you a scored report with prioritized recommendations for improvement.
What it does
- Reads your course content directly from Canvas
- Scores your course against the 8 QM standard categories
- Identifies specific areas where your course meets, partially meets, or does not meet QM standards
- Prioritizes recommendations by impact and effort so you know where to focus first
What it doesn't do
- It does not replace a formal QM review or human reviewer
- A score from this tool is not an official QM certification
- It cannot evaluate content that isn't published or visible inside Canvas
How to think about your score
The tool is designed to accelerate your review process, not conclude it. Think of it as a detailed first-pass assessment that helps you identify gaps and prioritize improvements before a formal review. A lower score isn't a judgment, it's a starting point.
What you need before you begin
The tool must be installed in your institution's Canvas instance by a Canvas administrator before you can access it. If you don't see "QM Review Assistant" in your course navigation menu, contact your Canvas admin.
